Amazon Description
What do you do when you're one of ten children? If you're the only pink armadillo and all your siblings are green, then you know you are meant to stand out. But how? Well, if you are best at everything, it shouldn't be hard! In this eye-catching tale, the off-beat narrative is as inventive-and as kid friendly-as the graphically stunning artwork. Vladimir Radunsky offers young readers and listeners his own inimitable follow-up to his popular book Ten, of which the New York Times said "a delightfully original counting book. . . . The narrative is perfectly complementary with the painterly comical illustrations. . . . A joy."One Potato Review
Not a counting book, anyway. Radunsky follows Ten, about a couple of besotted armadillos who suddenly have a lot of extra caring to do, with the reckless, improvisatory boasting of One (formerly Six), who is smarter, braver, louder and more shamelessly name-dropping than all of his siblings. Armadillos may be bald, but here is the guy who has invented a secret formula for growing hair. Never shy about asserting himself authorially, Radunsky is having a lot of fun with this story. When that charming little braggart announces “I am the fastest. I’m like Super Jet. Hey, what was that? Was that me? Wow, that was fast!” you get the feeling he’s referring to his creator as much as himself. Knowing and irresistible.
