One Potato Review
Here is the classic-sounding tale of an impetuous young pelican too cool for his roost, but it’s the pictures - of octopi and groupers and porcupine fish, and of all of the species of birds who take turns offering Gerald advice as he drifts and wafts and plummets “like a frantic puff of milkweed” - it is these images by Mamoru Funai which are likely to stick for a lifetime. This reader was forever impressed that it was barracudas who represented the greatest peril in the ocean, that dolphins, while pranksters, tend to mind their own business, and sharks were a little dim and defensible. From the father of the writer who brought us Jaws.
